Description
The entrance and south boundary wall to the Gascoigne Building, along with the boundary wall to Gardenways, is an 18th-century structure. It is made of coursed squared stone with ashlar dressings and features gabled stone copings, standing approximately 2 meters high. The wall extends southwest along Black Pot Lane for about 200 meters until it reaches the junction with New Street, then continues southeast for approximately 100 meters along New Street to the footpath bordering St. Peter's Churchyard. It runs southeast for another 70 meters, adjacent to the footpath, before becoming the wall between the Gascoigne Building and the Churchyard, much of which is covered by creeper. The wall ends at an ashlar pier that is part of the entrance gateway to the Gascoigne Building, which includes curved sections of wall on either side and ashlar gate piers with flat coping. This wall and entrance are part of a group with the Gascoigne Building, the Church of St. Peter, and the wall along North Street. Gardenways is not included in this listing.
