Description

This is an early 19th-century three-story block of red brick buildings located on Market Square. It has seven windows and a cornice to the eaves, topped by a slate roof. The original glazing bars remain intact on the first and second floors. Numbers 6, 6B, and 7 are shops, while numbers 6A and 7A have round-headed doorways recessed within arches, each featuring spoked fanlights. Number 6A retains its original door, complete with knocker and letter box. The shops now have modern shop fronts with individual entrances. Number 7 was likely originally two units, which would have completed the symmetrical appearance of the terrace, featuring an arched doorway similar to those at numbers 6A and 6B. The current shop front at number 7 is in character with the building and more so than those at numbers 6 and 6B. Numbers 6, 6A, 6B, 7A, and 7, along with numbers 1 and 5 High Street, form a notable group.
