Description
South Heath Farmhouse, dating from the 17th century, is a timber-framed building that has been cased in 18th-century brick, rendered and painted. It features an old tile roof with a central brick chimney. The farmhouse is two storeys high, with a central door that is sheltered by an open tiled porch. On either side of the door are three-light casement windows, and there are two similar windows on the first floor, positioned just under the eaves. The rear of the building reveals some exposed timber-framing and includes a modern extension. Inside, there is an original staircase located behind the central chimney stack, which also contains what may have been a curing chamber. A large inglenook fireplace is present, along with a door that appears to date from the 17th century on the south side. Attached to the north end of the farmhouse is a barn, likely from the 18th century, which is timber-framed, weatherboarded, and has a corrugated iron roof supported by rough queenpost trusses.
