Description

Hill Farmhouse is a former farmhouse dating from the early to mid-19th century. It is built of red brick in a Flemish bond pattern, with a slate roof and brick end stacks. The house has a double-depth plan and originally presented a three-window front. The central doorway features six panels above a decorative overlight, with a moulded wooden surround, panelled reveals, and a projecting hood supported by shaped brackets. Sixteen-pane sash windows are found on both the ground and first floors, with painted stone sills and flat-arched brick heads. A plinth runs along the base of the building, and a blocked cellar window is located on the left side, featuring a segmental arch. Stepped brick eaves are present at the roofline. A single-storey and attic wing extends to the right, with a basement and a projecting rear section; this wing has a hipped slate roof and a 20th-century dormer window. A single-storey extension to the wing is weather-boarded, with a lean-to slate roof. The rear elevation features casement windows and a back door, all with segmental-arched heads.
