Description
Sedges Farmhouse is probably an early 17th-century building that features a timber frame, which has been cased in flint and brick during the 18th century. It has an old tiled roof that is half hipped and includes a large brick chimney stack with a recessed panel and modillion sailing courses located in the second bay from the south. There is also a small hipped dormer. The farmhouse is two storeys tall, with a door positioned opposite the chimney stack and a 3-light casement window on each side, all featuring single brick cambered arches. On the first floor, there are three casement windows, with the one above the door being a single light. An old fire insurance plate is displayed above the door. At the north end, there is a later brick section that has one window on each floor. The south gable is constructed of flint and brick and includes one 3-light casement window. Inside, the farmhouse retains good original timbering on the first floor and roof, which includes curved wind braces, and features an inglenook fireplace in the central room.
