Description

Thornborough Bridge is a 14th-century bridge constructed from coursed rubble and dressed stone, with blue brick and cement repairs to the piers. It features an irregular stone coping along the parapet and has six 4-centred arches. The outer arches are chamfered, while the penultimate arches are chamfered with hood-moulds. The two central arches are hollow chamfered and also have hood-moulds. On the south side, there are three cut waters that rise through the parapet, serving as passing places. The north side includes one square passing place that has an inscription tablet and shields carved on the pier below.
