Description

This building, at 14-22 West Street, consists of four buildings dating back to the 18th century, with some elements from an earlier period. Originally separate, they are now structurally and visually linked as a single property, and underwent significant alterations in the early 20th century. The original first floor windows have been removed, and the ground floor is occupied by a shop front that extends along the entire frontage. The exterior has a rough cast finish, and a moulded eaves cornice. A central gable features a round plaque indicating "Est 1820," likely referring to the establishment of a business, rather than the building's original construction date. The roof is tiled, and a single brick chimney stack, originally belonging to number 16, remains. The property forms a group with numbers 4 to 32 on the same side of West Street.
