Description

No 1 Castle Street is a 17th century building that has been altered over time. It is two storeys high and constructed of brick, with the upper part roughcast and featuring plaster rusticated quoins that slightly oversail. The roof is covered with old tiles, and there is some timber framework visible at the back. The house was partly cut away when No 10 Temple Square was built. It has two windows with three or four light casements and a two-panel door located under a flat hood supported by curved brackets. Inside, there are contemporary chamfered beams, and the building retains its original chimney stacks. This property is part of a group that includes Nos 1 to 15A (odd).
