Description
St Michael's Parsonage is a parsonage built in 1922, designed by architects Burgess, Holden and Watson in the Jacobean style. It is constructed of brown brick in stretcher bond with stone dressings, features a tiled roof, and has two tall clustered brick chimneystacks. The building has leaded light windows and the front elevation displays a 3:4 window arrangement. There are three gables, with the end ones having a longer slope at the sides, and large decorated cast iron rainwater heads. The central two-storey canted bay contains an 8-light mullioned and transomed casement, with a stone plaque below that bears the date and the name "S. Michael's Parsonage." The ground floor features a doorcase in a four-centred stone arch with hood moulding, flanked by two small windows with hood moulding. The end bays have mullioned and transomed windows on both floors. To the left is a one-storey service wing. The rear elevation has five mullioned casements on the first floor and mullioned and transomed casements with hood moulding on the ground floor, along with a central cambered doorcase.
Inside, there is an oak well staircase with paired stick balusters, square newel posts topped with ball finials, and console brackets. The interior also features exposed cross beams, a wooden corner china cupboard, a built-in wardrobe in the bedroom, and several plank doors with iron hinges.
