Description
St Hubert's House, built around 1860, is believed to have been constructed as a hunting lodge for the 2nd Earl of Portrench. The building features stock brick with stone dressings and a slate roof, showcasing an asymmetrical design and an idiosyncratic style. It includes decorative elements such as dogtooth ornament and lozenge patterning in the raised brickwork. The house is primarily two storeys tall, with a three-storey central tower porch. Most windows are of the ause de panier arch type, except for those in the five left-hand bays and the third storey of the tower, which are round-arched and feature Early English type foliage in the capitals. To the left of the house is an attached stable block, designed in a similarly unique style, which is dated 1866.
