Description

The Fane of Pastoral Poetry is a small roofless structure built in 1727 by architect James Gibbs, originally known as The Belvedere. It was re-erected on its current site in the 1760s. The building is constructed from ashlar stone and features a moulded cornice. It has an octagonal shape with four sides that are pierced by semi-circular headed arches, which include keyblocks, stepped architraves, and impost mouldings. The angled faces of the structure have blank oculi.
