Description

Lord Cobham's Column is a tall stone fluted column built around 1740. It features an open belvedere topped with an urn that replaced a statue destroyed by lightning. While it is traditionally attributed to architect James Gibbs, it is known to have been significantly designed by landscape architect Capability Brown. The blocks at the base of the column were added by Valdre.
