Description

This is an 18th-century building, originally the "twopenny school." It comprises The Old School Cottage and The Old School Bungalow. The main part of the building is red brick with an old tile-hipped roof. The first floor has three Gothic windows; the central one is bricked in, colour-washed, and bears the name painted on it, while the others have Y-shaped glazing bars. The ground floor features a central door within a two-centred arch, flanked by two Gothic windows with shutters. A one-story addition extends to the right, featuring a machine tile roof and a pointed window. A long 19th-century wing at the rear, originally the schoolroom, has been divided into two cottages. This wing is red brick with a slate roof, and each cottage has a central entrance, a gabled timber porch with carved barge boards, and two three-light casement windows with timber mullions and transoms.
