Description

Hitchambury is an old rectory, originally dating to the 17th century, with subsequent alterations and extensions through the 19th and early 20th centuries. The original 17th-century core is visible at the rear, being one bay deep and originally two storeys high. The house is now two storeys plus an attic. The front of the house is largely of the 19th century and early 20th century, with some diapered brickwork on the garden front. This brickwork incorporates a stone panel displaying the arms of King's College, Cambridge, the motto 'Eso perpetua', and the date 1866. The entrance front has an E-shaped plan and features tile-hanging. All windows are casements with leaded lights.
