WADDESDON WADDESDON MANOR GROUNDS Fountain of Triton and Nereids 250 metres north of Waddesdon Manor

GV II Fountain. Early C18, sculpture by Giuliano Mozani. Circular basin with moulded stone coping and carved marble figures. To centre are a triton and nereid on an upturned shell. Flanking nereids riding on sea-monsters. Part of a fountain originally at the Ducal Palace at Colorno near Parma, of which the fountain of Pluto and Proserpine, to south of Manor was also a part. Brought to Waddesdon late C19 by Ferdinand de Rothschild. (Catalogue No.67).
