Description
The Fountain of Triton and Nereids, located 250 metres north of Waddesdon Manor, is an early 18th-century fountain featuring a sculpture by Giuliano Mozani. It consists of a circular basin with moulded stone coping and carved marble figures. At the centre, there is a triton and a nereid positioned on an upturned shell, with additional nereids riding on sea-monsters flanking them. This fountain is part of a collection originally from the Ducal Palace at Colorno near Parma, which also included the fountain of Pluto and Proserpine located to the south of the Manor. It was brought to Waddesdon in the late 19th century by Ferdinand de Rothschild.
