Description
The George and Dragon Hotel is a late 18th century to early 19th century building located on The Causeway. It is two storeys tall with an attic and constructed of red brick. The hotel features a moulded wood cornice supported by pairs of brackets and has a slate roof. The front has a five-bay layout, with the three central bays slightly projecting and topped with a pediment that includes a small circular light in the tympanum. There are two pedimented dormers above. Flanking the central bays are two half-glazed doors, each surrounded by painted plant motifs and topped with pedimented heads. All windows consist of four panes. The George and Dragon Hotel, along with Nos 83 to 87 (odd) and Nos 91 and 93, including the gateway and sundial at the Dial House on St Peters Street, form an important architectural group.
