Description
Cobble Stones is a house that was formerly a pair of cottages, dating from the late 17th to 18th century and has been altered over time. The building features irregularly chequered brickwork with rendered gable ends, and some concealed timber-framing in the projecting northern wing. It has a thatched roof that is half-hipped at the front gable of the projection and is supported by three brick chimneys. The house is laid out in an L-shape and has one and a half storeys with four bays; the right bay includes a projecting wing at the front.
The windows are 20th-century three-light leaded casements, with the ground floor windows having segmental heads and the first-floor windows set into the thatch. There are two blocked doorways, and the left bay is a 20th-century conversion of a former garage. The projecting wing has a similar three-light casement on the left side, a central 20th-century door with a thatched hood, a two-light casement to the left, and three-light casements to the right and above in a dormer. Notably, the right-hand window retains its original timber frame as mullions.
