Description
This is a 19th-century shop parade built on an earlier core. The building is constructed of red brick with an old tile roof and a brick modillion cornice. It is two storeys high. Numbers 50 to 56 have first-floor sash windows, seven original sashes and one bricked-in window, all with cambered relieving arches. The ground floor of number 50 has been altered, with a 19th-century shop window splayed to create an entrance recess. Numbers 52, 54, and 56 feature a continuous 19th-century fascia with broad segmental pediments over the coupled doorways. The front is divided by seven panelled pilasters, each topped with carved lion head corbels. There are two original 19th-century shop fronts with narrow mullions, and three modern bowed windows. Numbers 46 and 48 have been rebuilt and significantly altered, with modern tripartite casement windows on the first floor, featuring leaded lights. The ground floors have modern bowed shop fronts, a canted bay window, and a recessed door with plate glass. These last two properties are included in the listing for their group value.
