Description
Stank House Farmhouse is an early 19th-century farmhouse located in Bolton Abbey, North Yorkshire. It is constructed of coursed squared stone with ashlar details and features a graduated slate roof. The building has two storeys and three bays, with a plinth at the base. The central entrance consists of a half-glazed door set within a plain stone surround. The windows include 4-pane sashes on the ground floor and 6-pane sashes on the first floor, all framed by plain stone surrounds. The roof is hipped with end stacks; the right stack has two diagonally set shafts, while the left stack has four diagonally set shafts. On the left side of the building, there is a 20-pane sash window with 'DAIRY' inscribed on the lintel above. Inside, the right-hand front room features a very large reused 18th-century fire surround, complete with an architrave, frieze, consoles, dentilled cornice, and mantelpiece. The mouldings exhibit good carving, including bead and reel and egg and dart designs.
