Description

The Tea House is a barn that has been converted into a cottage, likely dating from the 16th century with alterations made in the 19th century. It is constructed from coursed squared stone and features a graduated stone slate roof. There is a gabled porch on the right side, and a central single-light window. The long roof has a gable at the left-hand side, and there are two 19th-century gabled dormer windows with two lights each. An end stack on the right side has three diagonally set shafts. Inside, the structure includes a large king-post frame, with braces extending from the king post to the ridge, and from the arcade posts to the tie and purlins. It is possibly part of a tithe barn that belonged to Bolton Abbey.
