Description

The Arches is a house dating from the late 18th century to the early 19th century. It is built of ashlar, coursed squared stone, and features a graduated stone slate roof. The building has two storeys and three bays, with quoins at the corners. The central bay contains a half-glazed door framed by a plain stone architrave. The outer bays feature 24-pane sash windows, while the central bay has a sash window with glazing bars on the first floor; all windows are adorned with plain stone architraves. Above the door, between the outer bays, there is some carved medieval stonework that originates from Bolton Priory. The house is finished with shaped kneelers, stone coping, and end stacks.
