Description

This is a former silk mill, now used as an agricultural building, dating to around 1800, with some later alterations. Constructed of coursed grit stone with a stone slate roof, the mill features large stone quoins and a single gable chimney stack. It is two stories high. The south gable wall has a single opening to the left on the ground floor, and two loft doorways in the gable above. The east front has a partially blocked doorway towards the right, a partially blocked upper window in the central part, and a single window opening to the left. The north gable wall has a low central opening with four square ventilation openings above. The west wall includes a doorway to the right, a window with glazing bars, and a further opening. Above these openings are three windows, the central one being blocked. Inside, the wheel-house is empty. Ground floor living accommodation now incorporates inserted cattle stalls. The upper floor has a wooden king post roof with passing purlins.
