Description
The School House, now a house, along with its railings, dates from the late 18th century to the early 19th century. It is constructed of rubble with a stone slate roof and features wrought-iron railings. The building has one storey with a basement and two windows. Notable architectural details include quoins, a board door to the right, one sash window with glazing bars, and one fixed-light 12-pane window. There is an end stack to the left and an extension to the right that has two lower storeys. The railings in front are adorned with knob finials and urn finials on the standards. This building was originally built by the Quakers to serve as a first-floor school room, with stabling below for horses brought by Friends traveling to meetings from far away. It is included for its group value.
