Description

Force Head Farmhouse is a house dated 1711, with early 19th-century iron railings. It is constructed of coursed rubble with a stone slate roof. The house is two storeys high, with two bays. The central doorway has a four-panel door beneath an overlight, all set within an architrave featuring capitals and a keystone bearing the date 1711 (this date was recently recarved after being found on a roof timber). Above the door is a cornice and a detached pediment. The windows are paired 16-pane sash windows set within architraves with flat-faced mullions. A drip-mould runs above the ground floor windows, except where interrupted by the doorway. Chimneys are located at each end of the building. A low rubble retaining wall runs in front of the house, supporting simple iron railings and a central gate with cast-iron urn finials atop standards.
