Description
Scar End Farmhouse is a former farmhouse that is now derelict. It dates from the late 18th century but has origins in the 17th century, with alterations made in the 19th and 20th centuries. The building is constructed from rendered limestone rubble with painted stone dressings and has a stone slate roof. It features a former central staircase plan and is two storeys high with four bays.
The entrance is located to the left of centre and has a plain surround with a four-panel door. There is a 19th-century entrance at the far left that includes a half-glazed door and a ground floor window. To the left of centre, there is a two-light flat faced mullioned window, and to the right on the ground floor, there is a three-light flat faced mullioned window. The upper floor has three two-light flat faced mullioned windows, which have been replaced with 20th-century casements and fixed lights. There are ridge stacks on both the left and right of centre, and to the far right, there is an entrance to a 19th-century byre. At the rear, there is a continuous outshut that contains a tall narrow chamfered staircase window. Inside, there is a dog-leg staircase with turned balusters.
