Description
The Post Office in Thoraby Village is a house and shop dating from the early to mid-18th century. It is constructed of coursed rubble with a stone slate roof and features two storeys, a cellar, and an attic, arranged in three bays. The building has a plinth and quoins. The central entrance consists of a part-glazed door set within an ashlar architrave. The windows on the ground floor are C20 casements with ashlar architraves, and the window above the door is a C20 insertion with a concrete surround. The ground-floor windows have crooks for shutters. There is slab coping on the left side and a stack at the left end. On the left return, there is a blocked single-light window with an ashlar surround in the gable. It is said that this building was once a public house.
