Description
Park Hall is a farmhouse and cottage under one roof, dating from 1700, but altered in the 18th century and around 1900. It was originally built for Lord Thomas Wharton. The building is constructed of coursed watershot rubble with a stone slate roof and has two storeys, along with an added rear outshut.
The first floor features five windows arranged as three to the left and two to the right. The house has plain stone surrounds with straight tooling on the openings. The central doorway has shouldered jambs and a six-panel door from around 1900. The windows are four-pane sash types. The cottage to the right has later plain stone surrounds with four-pane sashes. On the ground floor, there is a six-panel door to the left and a sash window.
The building has shaped kneelers and ashlar copings throughout, with three ridge stacks that have classical cornices. At the rear, there is a quoined surround with a moulded arris to the doorway, which has the inscription 'LORD 1700' on the lintel. The left return features a projecting chimney-breast, while the right return has a loft window with a chamfered surround.
