Description
Top Building is a house that has been converted into a calf-house and hay-mow. It dates from the late 17th century and is constructed of rubble with a stone slate roof. The building has three storeys and features three openings on the first floor. The quoins are noticeable on the structure.
On the ground floor, from left to right, there is a board door set in a quoined surround, a blocked four-light double-chamfered mullion window, another board door in an ashlar surround with bases, impost blocks, and rounded inner corners to the lintel, along with a recess above that may have once held an inscribed plaque. There is also a surround for a three-light double-chamfered mullion window.
The first floor includes, from left to right, a chamfered fire window and two three-light double-chamfered mullion windows, each missing a mullion. The second floor has two blocked three-light double-chamfered mullion windows. The building is accented with shaped kneelers and moulded ashlar coping.
