Description

This is a farmhouse dated 1670, with alterations made in the late 19th century. It is constructed of rubble with a stone slate roof and has a symmetrical facade of one-and-a-half bays. The corners are accentuated with quoins. A two-storey gabled porch is centrally located, featuring a four-panel door within a quoined surround with a wave-moulded arris and a triangular soffit to the lintel, which incorporates the date. A string course runs along the front. The porch has a two-light chamfered mullion window on the first floor, and the gable above contains a weathered inscription within a square panel bordered by dog-tooth detailing. To the left of the porch on the ground floor is a three-light mullion window, while the other ground floor windows are of two lights. The roof is hipped, and lateral stacks are present. An inscription, recorded in Greek and Latin, states that the building belonged to Alexander Ingram and attributes the success of all earthly endeavors to the power of the gods.
