Description
Adsdean House, built around 1850, was altered and enlarged by Norman Shaw in 1877 and is designed in a Gothic style, although it is now partly demolished. The building has two storeys and an attic, featuring three windows and two dormers on the main portion. It is faced with flints, complemented by stone dressings and quoins, and has a slate roof. The windows are casement style with stone mullions and transoms. The garden front includes a central gabled projection with an attic window. To the west, there is a one-storey section with a large projecting hexagonal bay topped with a polygonal roof. The entrance front features a porch with a segmental arch, a shallow oriel above with canted sides and a flat roof, and a gable to the right that includes a chimney stack. The interior was altered by Ernest George between 1898 and 1900.
