Description

Fittleworth Bridge is a road bridge built in two sections. The southern section dates from the 16th century and was rebuilt between 1717 and 1739, with the center arch being raised in 1791. The northern section was constructed between 1811 and 1812. Both sections are made of ashlar stone and feature carstone parapets and coping. The southern section, or main section, has three arches, with the center arch being round-headed and cutwaters present between the arches and at each end on the east side. The northern section has two round-headed arches with a cutwater between them. The bridge is also a Scheduled Ancient Monument.
