Description
The Swan Hotel is a hotel located on Lower Street in Fittleworth. The inn sign claims that it has origins dating back to the 14th century. The original part of the building is the eastern section, which is a timber-framed structure from the 17th century or earlier, refaced with stone. The roof was originally covered with Horsham slabs but has mostly been replaced with tiles. The hotel features casement windows and has two storeys with four windows. The western section is a 19th-century addition made of red brick, which includes three windows and a carriage archway on the ground floor at the east end. A blue faience plaque on the building indicates that it is statutorily listed. The former gallows inn sign to the east of the inn has been demolished.
