Description
The gazebo located at the rear of No 103 High Street in Lewes is a Grade II listed structure dating from the mid-18th century. It features red mathematical tiles with black glazed mathematical tile quoins set on a base of red and blue brick. The east side is rendered, while the north side is adorned with gault mathematical tiles. The gazebo has a felted roof with a modillion cornice and a bulb finial.
On the south side, there is a shallow canted bay that also has a modillion cornice extending over it. Each side of the gazebo is topped with pediments above the cornice. The structure is single-storey with a basement. The south canted bay includes a three-part sash window, while the north side has a doorway on the first floor featuring a panelled door, accessed by steps with a cast-iron balustrade. There is also a doorway in the basement on the west side, accompanied by a window to the left. Inside, the gazebo boasts a coved ceiling with a central panel. The gazebo is situated on a wall that dates from the 18th and 19th centuries, which is not listed.
