Description
Nos 82, 83, 84, and 85 The Warren is a terrace row of four cottages, now converted into two houses and two flats, built in 1812 by the Selsey estate. The cottages are constructed from flints set in galletting, with red brick dressings and quoins, topped with a red tiled roof. The building is two storeys high and features six windows with small paned casements that have cambered heads in red brick surrounds. Each cottage has an entrance in the end wall and includes a small projecting rear wing. The flats are accessed through a central door that has a gabled hood. The roof is hipped, with two stacks on the main ridge and smaller stacks on the rear wing. This terrace represents a good quality example of agricultural workers' houses from the period. The interiors have not been inspected, but the rear elevation remains largely unaltered. The cottages have been recently restored and are in good condition.
