Description

Goddards Garage and Gateway is a stable block that was associated with Glenthorne, featuring gateway piers that lead to a rear courtyard, which is now used as garage premises. It dates from the late 18th century and has undergone some alterations in the 20th century. The walls are made of flint with brick quoins, and the inner elevation has lunette openings, while the outer side is plain with a shop window on the east side. The building has a half-hipped corrugated iron roof and has a rectangular shape that resembles a barn. At the east end, it is connected to a pair of gatepiers made of flintwork with brick quoins, simple caps, and stucco ball finials. This structure is included for its group value.
