Description
Peckhams Butchers is a butchers shop that was formerly a house. It dates back to the 16th century or earlier and is a timber-framed building that was refronted in flint and brick during the 18th century. In the 19th century, a butchers shop was built out at the front. The left side of the building has a section of exposed timber-frame behind the later brick and flint walling. It features a steeply-pitched tiled roof with a gablet and a narrower parallel range at the rear that is from the 18th century. The butchers shop itself is made of brick, painted, and has a hipped tiled roof along with a penticed tiled shopfront that includes a grille. The interior of the shop is tiled with one course of Greek key design.
