Description

Woodend is a large house of irregular plan, dating back to approximately 1800. The original, southern portion is a cottage orné, likely built by Lord George Lennox. It has two storeys and six windows, with a roughcast exterior incorporating some flintwork. The roof is thatched in three hips with one gable, and is also slated. There are two projecting sections; the central one is gabled. The windows are casements, some with pointed tops.

An irregular projection to the north-east, dating from about 1820, is constructed of flint with brick dressings and quoins, and has a slate roof with intact sash windows and glazing bars. A projecting gabled porch extends from this section. A central north wing was added around 1830 and is faced with roughcast, while the north-west wing, dating from the late 19th century, is built of red brick.
