Description
The Servant's Wing is a Grade II* listed servant's block located to the east of Petworth House. It was likely built around the same time as the Duke of Somerset's rebuilding of the house in the early 18th century. This long, detached rectangular building has two storeys and features thirteen windows. The exterior is made of ashlar stone and includes a moulded eaves cornice and a blocking course. The hipped roof is covered with Horsham slabs, and the glazing bars are intact. The central doorway is framed by a moulded architrave and has a rectangular fanlight above it, topped with a pediment. The building is connected to the main house by an underground passage.
