Description
Terwick Mill is a Grade II* listed building located on Terwick Lane in Trottton with Chithurst. This structure consists of two mills standing side by side, which ceased operation in 1966. The south mill has been converted into a house, while the machinery remains intact. The north mill dates back to the 16th century and features a timber-framed construction with tarred weather-boarding and a tiled roof, along with a dormer window facing west. The south mill, built around 1750, is made of coursed stone rubble and also has a tiled roof. It has two gables on the south side that contain lunette windows and consists of two storeys with two windows. Inside, there are two iron wheels positioned side by side, with the smaller wheel belonging to the older mill. The earliest known reference to the mill dates back to 1635, when Constance Glenham of Trotton was recorded as its owner.
