Description
West Meon House is a house built in the early 18th century, with additions and alterations from the early and late 19th century, as well as the early and late 20th century. The walls are made of flint mixed with malmestone, featuring small remnants of stone quoins, while most of the dressings are made of brickwork, including quoins, bands, and cambered arches. Some sections of the brick walling are in Flemish bond with blue headers, and there are minor rendered parts. The roof is tiled, with both hipped and gabled sections, including hipped dormers and a coved eaves cornice, and it features prominent late 19th-century Tudor stacks.
The symmetrical west front has a recessed center and gabled sides, consisting of two storeys and an attic, with a window arrangement of 1.1.1. A late 19th-century two-storey service wing is set back on the south side. The windows are sashes, and there is a mid-20th-century Tuscan doorcase. The east elevation is similar, but the north side gable has been brought forward into a massive bow, with a window arrangement of 2.1.3. At the south end, single-storey service wings extend east and west from the main wing, linked by a series of high flint walls.
