Description
Duchess Lodge and the attached gate piers were designed by J A Hansom in 1878 and are built in the Tudor Gothic style. Constructed from stone, they feature flat leaded roofs and a stone chimneystack on the northeast side. The building has two to three storeys and includes two windows, primarily consisting of single and double lancets with leaded lights and drip mouldings. A notable feature is the octagonal corner turret on the north side. The west front has an arcaded entrance with Caernarvon arches, along with one single and one double window. The north front displays a single lancet on the first floor and a double lancet on the second floor. The south front features a triple lancet window on the ground floor and a single and double lancet window on the first floor. The octagonal tower on the northeast has double lancets on each face. Additional architectural details include a crenellated parapet, a dogtooth cornice, and stone bands. The attached octagonal stone gateposts have moulded bases topped with Neo-Tudor domed caps and finials.
