PARISH OF EDENSOR MAIN STREET DAISY BANK Nos 1 and 2, and attached wall and outhouse
(Formerly listed as Pair of houses occupied by Mr Thraves and Mr Dore, attached wall and outhouse, DAISY BANK (south side))
GV II Pair of houses, c1830-40, probably by Paxton and Robertson, incorporating older remains. Italianate style. Coursed squared sandstone and ashlar. Hipped and gabled plain tile roof, overhanging on timber brackets. Four ashlar ridge stacks and one lateral stack.
Two storeys. North elevation of five irregular bays. Projecting pair of entrance bays to centre, the right part taller and gabled, with decorative bargeboards and wooden finial. The left part with a shallow pitched roof. Two triplets of round-arched windows, the gabled part with a similar smaller single light above. To the right are two two-light casements with glazing bars forming round-arched lights. Plain ashlar surrounds and bracketed hoodmoulds. Two similar windows to the left. Four similar windows above and a similar single light in the centre.
Attached to north is a retaining wall with seven piers with pyramid caps, and an outhouse. Square in plan with pyramid roof.
Built as part of the picturesque model village by Paxton for the Sixth Duke of Devonshire.
