Description
The gateway to Highlow Hall is an early 17th-century structure made of ashlar gritstone. It features a chamfered semi-circular arch that rises from supporting walls with quoined corners. The springing stones of the arch also serve as the base for smaller circular columns that flank the archway. These columns have moulded bases and capitals, which, along with the arch, support a projecting moulded capping band. At either end of the columns, there are ball finials. Above the arch, there is a base designed for further ornamentation, featuring sloping sides and scroll terminals.
