Description
The south-west gateway with gate piers and wing walls to Crag Hall dates from around 1820 and is constructed of stone, featuring a late 19th-century painted timber gate. The gate piers are monolithic with pyramid tops, and the wing walls are made of rubble, curving towards the outer ends. The gate itself has a robust design with massive square-section stiles, seven vertical rails, dogbars, and cross-bracing that forms a St Andrew's cross over a diamond shape. Additionally, there is an openwork band of cast iron between the double top rails. This structure is listed primarily for its group value.
