Description

The ice house, dating from the mid-18th century, is located at the southwest corner of the Canal Pond in Chatsworth Gardens. It is sunk into the ground and features a drystone retaining wall made of roughly coursed squared sandstone on the west side. The doorway, which has a stone lintel, is now blocked. Behind the structure, there is a large circular mound that forms the circular domed shape of the ice house. The interior has not been inspected. The Gardens and Park are recognized on the Gardens Register at Grade I.
