Description
Cophurst and Cophurst Knot is a former farmhouse that was later converted into three cottages and is now two houses. It dates from the late 17th century and underwent alterations in the late 18th century, with further additions and changes made in the 20th century. The building is constructed of washed, coursed rubble and has a roof made of Kerridge stone-slate, featuring three brick chimneys. It has a long rectangular shape that runs downhill and may have originally included a house and shippon within the same structure.
The building is two storeys high, with a door on the right side that is set beneath a massive lintel and has a chamfered stone surround. There is a two-light chamfered stone-mullioned window, although the mullion is now missing. Two additional windows are horizontal sliding sashes, while the remaining windows are 20th-century wooden casements. The rear of the building shows openings that suggest altered mullions. Inside, heavy purlins and the ridge are visible in the gable. There are outshuts at the rear, and a 20th-century garage has been added to the right. The interior does not contain any notable features.
