Description
Chequers Farmhouse is a mid-18th century building, originally marked as Chequers Inn on the Ordnance Survey map. The structure includes the house and outbuildings, which have been incorporated into the main building. It features ashlar and rubblestone construction with a pantile roof.
The central block is two storeys high and has two bays, while the right wing is a single storey with three bays, and the left wing is set back, also a single storey with two bays. In the central block, there are two three-light side-sliding sash windows with glazing bars, positioned below lintels that have crude keystones. On the first floor, there are small eight-pane side-sliding sash windows. The building has stone coping and end stacks.
In the right wing, there is a board door to the right of the left bay, and the windows are three-light sashes with glazing bars. The left wing features a board door to the right of each bay, with three-light side-sliding sash windows that also have glazing bars. The window on the left is located below an original 18th-century lintel with a crude keystone, and there is an end stack to the left.
