Description

Fulmar Cottage is a house dating from around 1700, built on an older foundation and altered in the 19th and 20th centuries. It features unevenly-coursed pecked sandstone and a pantile roof, which has mostly been renewed, along with stone ridge copings and block kneelers. The cottage has a single central stack and a large external stack on the east gable. It has a lobby entry and a two-cell plan with a central stack. Originally a single-storey structure, it has been raised by three courses to become 1½ storeys high.

The front of the cottage has three windows, with lower outbuildings to the west. There is a boarded door in a slightly chamfered doorway to the right of the center. To the right of the door, there is a two-light casement window in a slightly chamfered opening. To the left of the door is a fire window, followed by another two-light casement window. Above, there are three raking dormer windows, each with a two-light casement. The outbuildings to the right feature a two-light casement in a former doorway, a door, and a boarded stable door beyond that.

On the east gable, there is a two-light casement in a former doorway, and above it, a two-light chamfered mullion window with casements. The rear front has an off-center fire window in a slightly chamfered surround, with a two-light mullion window to the left and a two-light casement to the right. Above this, there are three raking dormer windows, added in the 20th century, each with two-light casements. Inside, the cottage features heavy chamfered beams and a large inglenook fireplace to the right of the stack, which has an inserted stone fire surround.
