Description
The Shooting Box at Roseberry Topping is a late 18th-century shooting box or banqueting house built for Captain Wilson. It is constructed from coursed dressed stone and has a square plan. The building features a plinth and a moulded stone eaves cornice. It is a single storey structure, with the west front having a single doorway, while the other three fronts each have one window opening. The roof is topped by a square stone ogee dome with a ball finial. The interior has no fittings. This building was designed to provide shelter for members of the local gentry who visited this picturesque location for picnics or shooting.
