Description
Number 9 (Rock Lea) and Number 10 is a house consisting of two sections, built in the early 18th century with later alterations primarily from the late 18th century. The building is constructed of coursed stone and features a pantiled roof with stone copings and rendered gable end chimneys. It has three storeys, with the left side having two windows and the right side having four windows, all fitted with modern pivoted lights that include glazing bars. There is a keystoned lintel above the left window on the ground floor, and a modern door is present. The top storey on the right side jetties out on stout beams with curved ends that are slightly askew on both the front and back. Inside, there is an early 18th-century staircase with cut balusters and a closed string, alongside an early 19th-century stair. The interior also features some 18th-century panelling and late 18th-century beams throughout. The roof is stout with a fairly low pitch, supported by large principals and two levels of purlins, and it was probably originally stone flagged.
